Privacy Policy
Welcome to Go With Jo Fitness. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you visit our website and sales pages, buy our products, or use the Go With Jo app (app.gowithjofitness.com), including the free 30-Day Mini Band Challenge, Body Band Ripper™ and the Bootylicious Bible™.
1. Who We Are
Go With Jo Fitness is operated by Joanna Olivier, who is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your personal data is handled, please contact: joanna@gowithjofitness.com
2. What Law Applies
Our use of your personal data is governed by the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
We process personal data in accordance with these laws.
3. What Personal Data We Collect
Website and purchases: your name, email address, billing information, IP address, browser/device information, and any information you give us when you contact us or buy a product.
Your app account: your name, email address and password. Your password is stored only as a scrambled (hashed) value, so we cannot see it.
What you record in the app: see section 4. Some of this is health information, which the law calls special category data (see section 5).
4. The Go With Jo App
When you use the app, we save the following to your account so your progress is kept safe and available on any device you log in on:
Workouts and programmes: the days and workouts you complete, your checklists, the weights or bands you use, guide chapters you have read and recipes you save.
Calorie and food tracker: your goal, sex, age, height, weight, activity level, target weight and target date, and the foods and meals you log.
Daily habits and check-ins: water, steps, sleep, mood and any notes you write (for example "today's win" or "how I felt").
Body progress: your weigh-ins, body measurements and, if you choose to upload them, progress photos.
Ripper Community (Body Band Ripper members only): your display name, posts, comments, photos and hearts. These are visible to other members (see section 7).
Notifications: if you turn on notifications, a technical address for your device so we can send them. You can turn them off at any time.
All of these are optional. You only enter what you want to track.
5. Health Data (Special Category Data)
Your weight, measurements, progress photos, food diary, sleep, mood and similar details are health information, which requires extra protection.
We only process this information with your explicit consent, which we ask for in the app, and only so the app can show you your progress and work out your personal targets (for example your daily calories, protein and water).
We never sell your health information, and we never share it with advertisers or social media platforms.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting the entries or by deleting your account (see section 17).
6. Progress Photos
Progress photos you upload are private to you. They are stored in secure, private storage and are only shown to you when you are logged in.
We do not look at your private progress photos unless you ask us to help with a problem, or we are legally required to.
Before-and-after images that you create in the app are saved to your own device. They are only shared if you choose to share them.
7. The Ripper Community
Anything you post in the community (text, photos, comments and hearts) can be seen by other Body Band Ripper members, together with your chosen display name. Please do not post anything you would not want other members to see.
Members' photos are checked by Jo before they appear. Jo and the Go With Jo team moderate the community. We may hide or remove content, or block members, who break the community guidelines. Reports you make are seen only by the moderators.
8. Legal Bases for Processing
We process your personal data on one or more of the following legal bases:
Performance of a contract: to give you the products, programmes and app account you have signed up for or bought.
Explicit consent: for health information you record in the app (section 5), and for marketing emails.
Legitimate interests: to operate, improve, protect and secure our website, app and business, for example preventing abuse of log-in and sign-up forms.
Legal obligation: where we are required to keep or disclose data by law, for example tax records.
9. Data We Collect Automatically
When you visit our website or app, we may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, date/time of access and pages viewed.
The app uses your IP address briefly to limit repeated log-in, sign-up and password-reset attempts, which protects your account.
The app does not use advertising or analytics tracking.
10. Cookies and Device Storage
Website and sales pages: we use cookies and similar technologies to make our website work and to improve your experience. Where required by law, non-essential cookies (such as advertising cookies) are only used with your consent. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and our cookie banner.
The app: the app saves your log-in and a copy of your progress on your device so it opens quickly and keeps working if your connection drops. This storage is strictly necessary for the app to work, so it does not need a cookie banner. Logging out removes your log-in from the device (your progress stays safe in your account). On a shared device, you can also clear the site's data in your browser settings.
11. Payments
Payments are processed securely by third-party providers: Stripe (purchases inside the app) and systeme.io, Stripe and/or PayPal (purchases on our sales pages).
We do not store or have access to your full payment card details.
To unlock what you have bought in the app, we match the email address on your app account with our purchase records.
12. Processors and Service Providers
We use trusted service providers to run our business. They only process your data on our instructions:
systeme.io: our website, sales pages, email marketing, digital product delivery and hosting of the challenge videos.
Cloudflare: hosting of the app, our app database, secure storage for progress photos, and sending app emails such as log-in and password-reset codes.
Stripe and PayPal: payment processing.
Some app features also connect to outside services:
Open Food Facts: when you search for a food or scan a barcode, the search words or barcode are sent to Open Food Facts to find the nutrition information. Your name and email are not sent.
YouTube: some exercise technique videos play from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may collect information when you play them.
Google Fonts and jsDelivr: the app loads its fonts from Google and the barcode-scanner tool from jsDelivr. These services receive your IP address when they send those files.
Your camera is only used on your device for barcode scanning and choosing photos. We never record or receive video.
13. Marketing Communications
If you opt in to marketing, we may send you emails about our products, resources, updates and offers.
Creating a free app account does not sign you up for marketing emails. The app only sends emails you need, such as codes to confirm your email or reset your password.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us directly.
14. Social Media and Advertising
We maintain a presence on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. If you interact with us there, both we and the relevant platform may process your data. Please also review the privacy policies of those platforms.
When we run adverts on Facebook and Instagram, our sales pages may use Meta tools (such as the Meta Pixel and Conversions API) to measure whether the ads lead to sign-ups or purchases. This may include sharing limited details, such as a scrambled (hashed) email address and the purchase, with Meta. Advertising cookies are only used with your consent.
Nothing you record inside the app is ever shared with Meta or any other advertiser.
15. International Transfers
Some of our service providers process or store personal data outside the UK. For example, Cloudflare and Stripe are US companies, and app data, including progress photos, may be stored on Cloudflare servers outside the UK, including in North America.
Where this happens, we rely on transfer safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
16. Data Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
App data (your progress, tracker entries, notes, measurements and photos) is kept while you have an account, so it is there whenever you come back. If you delete your account in the app, this data is deleted straight away (backups are overwritten within 30 days). If you ask us by email, we delete it within 30 days.
Purchase records may be kept for up to six years where required for legal, tax or accounting reasons, even after your account is deleted.
17. Deleting Your Account
You can delete your app account at any time inside the app: tap your initial on the programmes screen (or open the menu in Body Band Ripper™) and choose Delete my account. You will be asked for your password to confirm. Your account and the data described in section 4, including progress photos and community posts, are deleted straight away.
You can also ask us to do it by emailing joanna@gowithjofitness.com from the email address you use for the app. We will do it within 30 days.
Deleted data may remain in our hosting provider's encrypted backups for up to 30 days before it is overwritten. Purchase records we must keep by law are not deleted (section 16).
Deleting your account does not cancel or refund a purchase. If you sign up again later with the same email, your purchases can be unlocked again, but your previous progress will be gone.
18. Data Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords stored only as hashed values, limits on repeated log-in attempts, private storage for photos, and access limited to Jo and the Go With Jo team.
While no system can guarantee complete security, we take appropriate steps to safeguard the information we hold. Please keep your password private.
19. Minors
Our website, products and app are not intended for anyone under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
20. Automated Calculations
The app automatically calculates suggestions such as your daily calories, protein, water and steps from the details you enter. These are general guidance only and are not medical advice.
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
21. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have rights including the right to:
access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, request data portability (a copy of your data), and withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.
To exercise these rights, contact: joanna@gowithjofitness.com. We will respond within one month.
22. Complaints
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern directly.
23. Third-Party Links
Our website and app may contain links to third-party websites, such as our Amazon store, Facebook groups and social media. Some links to Amazon are affiliate links. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content or policies of those third-party sites.
24. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services, legal requirements or business practices.
The most recent version will always be published on our website and in the app. If we make important changes to how we use your health information, we will tell you in the app.
